What is Bibliothèque Burlesque?

Welcome to Bibliothèque Burlesque! It's burlesque with a reading list.

We plumb the deep, deep halls of academia to bring you the most erudite ecdysiasm in New York City!

We're brand-spankin' new as a company, but co-founders Clitoris B Toklas (you can just call me Cleo) and Rhoda Dendron have been shimmying it up for a good while now. We are so excited to co-produce this monthly series of burlesque. We'll have a different theme each month, generally falling under the literary umbrella, but we might surprise you with an NPR or movie-inspired night as well!

Literary Monsters: Things That Go Bump and Grind In the Night

Thursday, 24 October 7:30pm

Parkside Lounge, 317 E. Houston St., Manhattan

For October, we're putting together a show to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, especially if you were an English major.

"Monster" can mean so many things. It could refer to a demon or a vampire or a werewolf, but it could also be a sociopath or a social pressure or a secret. Join us at Parkside Lounge on October 24 to see six thrilling burlesque interpretations of monsters from the pages of your favorite books.

With acts from Lewd Alfred Douglas, Nip Fury, Taffeta Punk, Regal Mortis, Desirée deSade, and Clitoris B. Toklas. Raina Sinclair is stage kitten, Ariadne is our door goddess, Mimi Hurricane keeps the tunes going, and Rhoda Dendron is our fearless femcee!!!

Coming Soon

Things That Go Bump and Grind in the Night will be our last show for 2019. In 2020, we'll be moving to a quarterly schedule; we may also partner with other producers for shows or do a fundraiser outside of our currently planned schedule.

Updates as they occur; sign up for our mailing list or follow us on social media to see what we're up to!
